rlOspfv3ExtAreaLsdbLimit

Module: RADLAN-OSPFV3-MIB

OID (symbolic): RADLAN-OSPFV3-MIB::rlOspfv3ExtAreaLsdbLimit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.89.216.2.1.12

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The maximum number of non-default AS-external-LSA entries that can be stored in the link state database. If the value is -1, then there is no limit.

When the number of non-default AS-external-LSAs in a router's link state database reaches ospfv3ExtAreaLsdbLimit, the router enters Overflow state. The router never holds more than ospfv3ExtAreaLsdbLimit non-default AS-external-LSAs in its database. ospfv3ExtAreaLsdbLimit MUST be set identically in all routers attached to the OSPFv3 backbone and/or any regular OSPFv3 area (i.e., OSPFv3 stub areas and not-so-stubby-areas (NSSAs) are excluded).

This object is persistent, and when written, the entity SHOULD save the change to non-volatile storage.

What is rlOspfv3ExtAreaLsdbLimit?

This sets the maximum number of non-default AS-External LSAs the router will hold in its database before entering LSDB overflow state, with a value of -1 meaning no limit. Admins use this to protect a router's memory from being exhausted by an excessive number of external routes, and the value must match across all routers in the OSPF backbone and regular areas. When the count reaches this limit, the router stops originating additional non-default external LSAs until it exits overflow.
