Description: Manages login and message-of-the-day banner text displayed on Marvell switch consoles.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-BANNER-MIB?

RADLAN-BANNER-MIB is a RADLAN (embedded switch OS licensed by Marvell and used by many OEM switch vendors) proprietary MIB for configuring login and message-of-the-day banner text displayed to users during authentication events on the console, Telnet, or SSH. It is purely a configuration/text-management MIB, covering banner content, dynamic placeholder substitution (e.g., hostname, domain), display formatting (bold, inverse, blink), and per-connection-type visibility rules. It does not expose hardware sensor data, performance counters, or fault traps, so its relevance to hardware/software health monitoring is minimal; at most, the presence of a customized banner can serve as a configuration-compliance check. No dependency on other MIBs is indicated. It is typically used on Marvell/RADLAN-based OEM managed switches for branding, legal notice, or security-warning banners shown at login, and administrators can download the RADLAN-BANNER-MIB file to load it directly into their MIB browser for reference.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-BANNER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Marvell/RADLAN-based managed switches (various OEM brands)

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were provided for this MIB, so specific object identifiers cannot be honestly cited; based on its description it would expose per-connection-type (console/Telnet/SSH) banner text objects and formatting flags. An administrator would typically read the banner text objects to verify the correct security warning or MOTD is configured consistently across a fleet of switches, rather than to monitor operational health.
