Description: Manages Quanta Corporation OpenFlow SDN switch controller connection, flow table statistics, and datapath configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is QUANTA-OPENFLOW-PRIVATE-MIB?
QUANTA-OPENFLOW-PRIVATE-MIB is Quanta Corporation's proprietary MIB for OpenFlow-enabled switches used in software-defined networking (SDN) deployments, exposing objects to manage and monitor the switch's OpenFlow controller connectivity and flow-table state. It covers configuration of one or more OpenFlow controllers the switch connects to, plus per-flow-table status information describing the datapath's current flow programming. Its monitoring value is centered on software/control-plane status rather than physical sensors: an operator can check whether the switch maintains an active connection to its configured OpenFlow controller(s) and inspect flow-table status to confirm flows are being installed and processed correctly, helping detect a controller connectivity loss or a flow-table programming failure. As an OpenFlow switch MIB it implicitly depends on the OpenFlow protocol specification (ONF) for the semantics of controllers and flow tables, layered into Quanta's private enterprise tree rather than a standard IETF MIB. It is deployed in data-center SDN fabrics where Quanta whitebox switches are centrally controlled by an OpenFlow controller such as ONOS or OpenDaylight. Engineers can download the QUANTA-OPENFLOW-PRIVATE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in QUANTA-OPENFLOW-PRIVATE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Quanta OpenFlow-enabled whitebox switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls agentOpenFlowCfgControllerTable / agentOpenFlowCfgControllerEntry to verify the configured controller IP address(es) and connection parameters are correct, and checks agentOpenFlowFlowTableStatusTable / agentOpenFlowFlowTableStatusEntry to confirm the switch's flow tables are populated and active. A controller outage would typically surface as a lost connection state in the controller table alongside stale or empty entries in the flow-table status table, prompting investigation into the SDN control-plane link.
What Can Be Monitored
- OpenFlow controller connection status
- configured controller address(es)
- flow table status
- datapath flow programming state
