Category: QoS and Traffic Management

Description: Manages Extreme Networks bridge QoS configuration including per-port queue assignments and CoS-to-queue mapping.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is QOS-BRIDGE-MIB?

QOS-BRIDGE-MIB is an Extreme Networks MIB (using the standard dot1dQos prefix) that extends IEEE 802.1D bridge management with Quality-of-Service objects aligned to the IETF Differentiated Services (DiffServ) architecture. It defines per-port user-priority mappings and VLAN traffic classifier tables that determine how Ethernet frames are classified into DiffServ-style queues on a bridge. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration/status of QoS classification: administrators can verify which 802.1p user priorities and VLAN classifiers are configured and their operational status, helping diagnose traffic being mis-prioritized or dropped. It explicitly depends on and complements the IETF DiffServ MIB drafts and the standard BRIDGE-MIB (802.1D) object model. It is deployed on Extreme Networks Ethernet switches in networks using DiffServ-based QoS policies. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the QOS-BRIDGE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in QOS-BRIDGE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Extreme Networks Ethernet switch/bridge

Monitoring Examples

An administrator can inspect dot1dQosUserPriTable/dot1dQosUserPriEntry to confirm dot1dQosUserPri mappings assign the expected 802.1p priority values per port, and check dot1dQosVlanClfrTable for dot1dQosVlanStatus to verify a VLAN classifier is active. If voice traffic is experiencing jitter, the admin might find dot1dQosUserPri misconfigured on the affected port, causing voice frames to be classified into a lower-priority queue than intended.

What Can Be Monitored

  • 802.1p user priority mapping per port
  • VLAN traffic classifier configuration
  • VLAN classifier operational status
