qbSonetAlarmMode
Module: QB-SONET-MIB
OID (symbolic): QB-SONET-MIB::qbSonetAlarmMode
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4323.2.6.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: Setting this object causes enabling or disabling optical ports alarms(LOS, LF, SD or SF). At initial start up time all optical ports are enabled. The user can change the port state to 'disabled' if there are not connections configured on the port. Upon configuring the first active connection to the optical port, the system automatically enables the port alarms. This object is used in conjunction with qbSonetSlot object which defines a scope of the configuration parameter: chassis wide or slot wide. enabled(1) - enables alarms on the selected slot or chassis. disabled(2) - disables alarms on the dormant optical ports of the selected slot or chassis. When read, the value of the object is always 'unknown(3)' This parameter is applied to WAN622, S622, and Q155 cards.
What is qbSonetAlarmMode?
This enables or disables the optical-port alarms for LOS, LF, SD, and SF conditions on the SONET card or slot scoped by qbSonetSlot. Admins disable it on ports that have no active connections configured to suppress spurious alarms, and the device automatically re-enables it the moment a connection is configured on that port; reading the object always returns unknown(3) regardless of the last write. Setting qbSonetAlarmMode to disabled(2) with qbSonetSlot set to 3 silences LOS and LF alarms on all unused optical ports in slot 3.
