POLYCOM-BASE-MIB is a vendor-specific but purely structural MIB module published by Polycom, Inc. that does nothing more than register the enterprises.13885 OID arc as the root for all subsequent Polycom product MIBs. It contains no OBJECT-TYPE definitions or tables of its own — it exists solely so that other Polycom MIB modules (covering video conferencing endpoints, voice systems, and infrastructure devices) have a stable, documented parent object identifier to register under. As a result there is nothing in this module itself to poll for monitoring purposes; its value is purely as a namespace anchor that MIB compilers and browsers need loaded before they can resolve any Polycom product-specific MIB's OIDs. It is a dependency of every other Polycom MIB module (system, call, and endpoint-status MIBs, among others) rather than a monitoring target in its own right. It is deployed conceptually alongside any Polycom video conferencing or voice product, and MIB tooling that needs to compile a Polycom device's MIBs must load the POLYCOM-BASE-MIB MIB first to resolve the shared enterprise root.
