Category: Products/Registration, Security

Description: Defines the PGP Corporation enterprise SMI structure and OID subtree for Universal Server key management MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PGP-SMI?

PGP-SMI is the PGP Corporation's Structure of Management Information module, defining the enterprise OID subtree under which PGP's Universal Server key-management MIB modules are registered; it contains no runtime managed objects itself. As a pure SMI/registration module it does not expose interface, environmental, performance, or fault data directly. It therefore plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status on its own, instead serving as the namespace root for companion PGP MIB modules that manage encryption keys and related services. Its dependency is entirely on the parent enterprise OID arc and whatever companion PGP Universal Server MIB modules register beneath it. It is relevant wherever PGP Corporation's Universal Server key-management appliances are deployed, purely as a shared naming convention. Engineers can download the PGP-SMI file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PGP-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • PGP Corporation Universal Server

Monitoring Examples

This module has no sample data objects (its sample_objects list is empty), consistent with it being a Structure of Management Information registration module rather than a data-bearing MIB. Any real monitoring, such as key inventory or server status, would occur through companion PGP Universal Server MIB modules registered under this SMI tree. There is no realistic polling scenario for PGP-SMI itself.
