Description: Defines textual conventions shared across Panasas parallel file system storage MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PANASAS-TC-MIB?

PANASAS-TC-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Panasas defining shared Textual Conventions used across Panasas's parallel file system storage appliance MIB family (ActiveScale/PanFS storage clusters used in high-performance computing environments). As a textual-conventions-only module it does not itself expose runtime hardware or performance data; instead it standardizes data types (such as enumerations for component states or status codes) referenced by Panasas's operational storage MIBs covering things like disk shelf health, storage blade status, and cluster capacity. Consequently there are no directly monitorable objects in this module itself, though the types it defines underpin how disk/blade/fan/power status is represented consistently in the sibling Panasas MIBs that actually carry runtime data. Its entire purpose is as a dependency for those other Panasas storage MIBs. It is used wherever Panasas parallel storage clusters are deployed, typically in HPC and large-scale data center environments, as a supporting module loaded alongside the vendor's main storage MIBs. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PANASAS-TC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PANASAS-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Panasas parallel storage cluster (ActiveScale/PanFS storage appliance)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided, consistent with this being a pure textual-conventions module; it defines shared data types for other Panasas storage MIBs rather than exposing pollable objects itself, so no monitoring scenario can be honestly constructed for this module alone.
