Category: CPE and Edge Routers

Description: Manages OneAccess CPE integrated DHCP server address pool configuration and active lease bindings.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OADHCP-SERVER-MIB?

This is a vendor-specific MIB from OneAccess for the integrated DHCP server function built into its CPE routers, covering address pool configuration, lease timing, and supporting DNS/NetBIOS server options handed out to clients. It exposes objects for overall DHCP server operational status, default and maximum lease times, domain name, and tables of configured DNS and NetBIOS servers pushed to clients. Its monitoring relevance is chiefly service-status oriented: administrators check oaDhcpServerStatus to confirm the DHCP service itself is running, and validate lease-time and DNS/NetBIOS server table entries to ensure clients receive correct network configuration, which reflects the health of a software service on the router rather than physical hardware. It builds on general DHCP protocol concepts (RFC 2131) though it is not a direct implementation of a standard DHCP IETF MIB. It is deployed on OneAccess CPE routers acting as local DHCP servers for small branch-office or SOHO LAN segments. Engineers can download the OADHCP-SERVER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OADHCP-SERVER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MRV Communications Optical Access (OA) platform

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks oaDhcpServerStatus to confirm the DHCP server process is enabled and running, then reviews oaDhcpDefaultLeaseTime and oaDhcpMaxLeaseTime to verify lease durations match policy. The oaDhcpDNSTable, indexed by oaDhcpDNSNum, lists each oaDhcpDNSIp handed out to clients along with oaDhcpDNSStatus, and a similar oaDhcpNetbiosServersTable covers WINS/NetBIOS name servers. If clients report failing DNS resolution, finding a DNS entry with a non-active oaDhcpDNSStatus would explain why the wrong or no DNS server was leased.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP server operational status
  • default/max lease time
  • configured DNS server entries
  • configured NetBIOS server entries
  • domain name setting
