Category: CPE and Edge Routers
Description: Manages OneAccess integrated LAN switch port configuration, VLAN membership, and port statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is OASWITCH-MIB?
This is a vendor-specific MIB from OneAccess covering the integrated LAN switch functionality built into its CPE routers, managing switch port configuration, VLAN membership, and MAC address table (forwarding table) status. It exposes objects for clearing and sizing the MAC address information table, plus a detailed MAC table recording learned addresses, their VLAN ID, switch port, learning mode, and tagging status. Its monitoring value centers on the switch's software-level Layer 2 forwarding state: administrators check the MAC table size and entries to confirm expected devices are being learned on the correct ports and VLANs, useful for detecting port flapping, MAC address moves, or VLAN misconfiguration. It builds on general bridge/VLAN concepts akin to the IETF BRIDGE-MIB and Q-BRIDGE-MIB but is implemented as a OneAccess-specific module rather than those standards directly. It is deployed on OneAccess CPE routers with an integrated Ethernet switch, typically at branch or enterprise edge sites. Engineers can download the OASWITCH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OASWITCH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- MRV Communications Optical Access (OA) platform
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks oaSwitchMacInfoNumber against oaSwitchMacInfoMaxNumbr to see how full the MAC address table is, and can invoke oaSwitchMacInfoClear to flush stale entries. Walking oaSwMacTable reveals each oaSwMacAddr along with its oaSwMacVid (VLAN ID) and oaSwMacPort, useful for confirming a given device is learned on the expected port and VLAN. If a MAC address appears to be moving rapidly between oaSwMacPort values across successive polls, that points to a Layer 2 loop or duplicate MAC address on the switch.
What Can Be Monitored
- MAC address table size/utilization
- learned MAC address entries
- VLAN ID per MAC entry
- switch port per MAC entry
- MAC tagging/learning mode
