ntwsPortConfigTrunkMaster

Module: NTWS-PORT-MIB

OID (symbolic): NTWS-PORT-MIB::ntwsPortConfigTrunkMaster

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.6.1.4.6.1.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: NtwsPhysPortNumberOrZero

Access: read-only

Description: The master port of the group this port belongs to (identified by the physical port number). A zero value means information is not available (usually if this port is not part of any port group).

What is ntwsPortConfigTrunkMaster?

This identifies, by physical port number, which port acts as the 'master' of the trunk/port group that this port belongs to, or reports zero if the port isn't part of any such group. Admins use it to map out how link aggregation is wired across the switch, since status and traffic handling for a trunk group is often centralized around its master port. For example, if several ports are aggregated together, querying this OID on one of the member ports would return the physical port number of whichever port in that group serves as master.
