Module: NTWS-INFO-RF-DETECT-MIB

OID (symbolic): NTWS-INFO-RF-DETECT-MIB::ntwsInfoRFDetectXmtrNetworkingMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.6.1.4.9.1.1.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: NtwsRFDetectNetworkingMode

Access: read-only

Description: The way this transmitter is doing wireless networking: ad-hoc mode networking or infrastructure mode networking.

What is ntwsInfoRFDetectXmtrNetworkingMode?

This object reports whether the detected RF transmitter is operating in ad-hoc mode (peer-to-peer) or infrastructure mode (client-to-AP) wireless networking. Admins use this to distinguish detected access-point-style transmitters from ad-hoc device-to-device wireless links, since ad-hoc networks are often a bigger security concern on a managed enterprise wireless network. For example, a transmitter reported in ad-hoc mode near a secure facility might prompt an admin to investigate an unauthorized peer-to-peer wireless connection.
