What Is NTN-QOS-POLICY-EXT-PIB?

NTN-QOS-POLICY-EXT-PIB is a Nortel Networks Policy Information Base (PIB) module extending the IETF's Framework, IP QoS, and 802 QoS PIBs with Nortel-specific policy classes for interface-level QoS classification and traffic conditioning. It belongs to the COPS-PR/policy-based-networking technology area used in Nortel switches and routers. It exposes policy configuration tables mapping interface roles to priority/queue assignment, interface-type extensions, and DSCP-to-priority mappings, rather than fault or environmental data. Its role is chiefly in configuring and monitoring the applied QoS policy state on network interfaces, confirming which priority/queue a role-based policy assigns to traffic and whether that policy is correctly provisioned, rather than hardware health per se. A policy management station would provision or read ntnQosIfPriAssignmentTable/ntnQosIfPriAssignmentEntry to see which ntnQosIfPriAssignmentPri (priority) and ntnQosIfPriAssignmentQueue a given ntnQosIfPriAssignmentRoles interface role is assigned, and check ntnQosIfPriAssignmentStatus to confirm the row is active. Cross-referencing ntnQosIfDscpMappingExtTable would reveal whether DSCP-to-priority mappings match intended policy, and a mismatch or a row stuck in a non-active status would indicate a failed policy push from the PDP. This is fundamentally a policy-provisioning MIB, so monitoring here means verifying applied QoS configuration state rather than traffic counters.
