What Is NOVELSAT-DEMODULATOR-MIB?

NOVELSAT-DEMODULATOR-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for Novelsat's satellite demodulator product line, part of VSAT/satellite communications equipment used in DVB-S2/S2X links. It exposes configuration and signal-related objects for each demodulator line, covering RF tuning parameters (frequency, symbol rate, roll-off), modulation/coding behavior (ACM mode, ACM margin, gold sequence), and channel control features like LNB power control and dual-channel state. In monitoring terms this MIB is primarily used to track the operational configuration and signal-quality health of each demodulator channel, letting an operator confirm that a given line's RF and demodulation settings match the expected link plan and that adaptive coding/modulation is behaving correctly under changing signal conditions. There is no explicit dependency on other MIBs evident from the module description, and it is a purely proprietary Novelsat instrumentation module. It is deployed in VSAT hub and remote terminal equipment, where NOVELSAT-DEMODULATOR-MIB SNMP monitoring supports satellite backhaul, broadcast, or broadband access.

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll nsDemodConfigLineRFFreq and nsDemodConfigLineSymbolRate per line to verify a demodulator is tuned to the correct transponder frequency and symbol rate for its assigned carrier. Checking nsDemodConfigLineAcmMode together with nsDemodConfigLineAcmMargin reveals whether adaptive coding and modulation is enabled and how much margin remains before the link would need to step down to a more robust modulation, an early warning of rain fade or interference. nsDemodConfigLineLNBControl and nsDemodConfigLineDualChState indicate whether the associated LNB is powered and which channel is active, useful for diagnosing a dead receive chain.
