What Is NOVELSAT-ROOT-MIB?
NOVELSAT-ROOT-MIB is the top-level enterprise registration MIB for Novelsat, a manufacturer of satellite (VSAT/DVB) modems and modulators, establishing the OID subtree under which all other Novelsat product MIBs register. Rather than exposing operational data itself, it primarily defines the enterprise root and a MIB-family version identifier used to track the revision of the overall Novelsat MIB suite. As a root MIB it has no direct hardware/performance objects, but its version object helps confirm which generation of Novelsat MIB definitions an agent implements before polling downstream product-specific MIBs for signal, hardware, or configuration status. It has an implicit organizational dependency on every other Novelsat product MIB that branches from its root OID. It is used across Novelsat satellite modem/demodulator product lines in VSAT ground-station deployments as the common namespace anchor for management tooling. Any management application walking the NOVELSAT-ROOT-MIB OID tree will find only the enterprise root and version identifier here, with the substantive modem and link-quality objects registered under its child MIBs.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NOVELSAT-ROOT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- Novelsat MIB suite version identifier
- enterprise OID root registration
Supported Devices
- Novelsat satellite modem/demodulator (any generation, enterprise OID root)
Monitoring Examples
A management application reads nsMibVersion first to determine the installed Novelsat MIB suite revision before deciding which product-specific tables branching from this root (e.g., modem status or link-quality MIBs) to poll, avoiding OID mismatches across firmware versions.
