Description: Manages Nokia IPSO link aggregation group configuration and active member port status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NOKIA-IPSO-LINKAGGREGATION-MIB?
NOKIA-IPSO-LINKAGGREGATION-MIB manages link aggregation groups (LAGs, similar to 802.3ad bonding) on Nokia IPSO-based security appliances, letting operators configure which physical ports belong to an aggregated logical interface. It exposes group-to-port mapping objects and per-port status, most notably an inactive-reason code identifying why a member port has been excluded from the active aggregate. Its monitoring emphasis is hardware/link status: watching ipsoLAPortInactiveReason across member ports reveals cabling, negotiation, or link-partner problems causing reduced aggregate bandwidth or a degraded LAG. It relies on underlying IF-MIB interface indexing, since ipsoLAGroupIfIndex and ipsoLAPortIfIndex reference standard ifIndex values, tying aggregation groups and member ports to interface table entries. It is deployed on Nokia IP-series firewall/security appliances where link aggregation provides redundant, higher-bandwidth uplinks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the NOKIA-IPSO-LINKAGGREGATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NOKIA-IPSO-LINKAGGREGATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia IP-series security appliance (IPSO)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls ipsoLAPortIfIndex entries for a given ipsoLAGroupIfIndex to enumerate current LAG members, then checks ipsoLAPortInactiveReason on each port; a non-zero inactive reason on a port expected to be active indicates a link failure or LACP negotiation problem reducing available aggregate bandwidth, and would trigger an ipsoLinkAggregationNotificationGroup trap.
What Can Be Monitored
- link aggregation group membership
- aggregated port active/inactive status
- port inactive reason codes
- aggregate bandwidth availability
