OID (symbolic): NMS-SWITCH-MIB::portSecurityMaxHost

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11606.10.9.1.1.2.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The maximum number hosts which can be allowed to be used. a value bigger than portSecurityMaxHostCapability means unlimited max-host value.

What is portSecurityMaxHost?

This read-write value sets the maximum number of hosts allowed on this port under dynamic port security, where a value larger than portSecurityMaxHostCapability effectively means unlimited. An admin lowers this on a port expected to serve only a small, known number of devices, to detect or block unexpected additional devices being plugged in. For example, setting portSecurityMaxHost to 1 on a single-workstation office port ensures only the first device to connect gets learned, and any second device attempting to use that port is blocked.
