Description: Tracks event log history and active alarm list for Net Insight Nimbra media transport platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NETI-EVT-MIB?

NETI-EVT-MIB is a Net Insight vendor MIB providing a generic event-and-alarm logging mechanism for Nimbra media transport platform devices. It exposes an event history table and an active alarm list, along with SNMP notifications that fire whenever alarms change state or other tables in companion Net Insight MIBs are modified. It is centrally used for monitoring device fault and software status: each event carries a severity, cause, type, and free-text description, letting operators detect hardware faults, configuration changes, and abnormal conditions as they occur rather than only through periodic polling. The MIB explicitly depends on other Net Insight MIBs, since it acts as a generic notification-of-change mechanism that those modules reuse to report their own table changes. It is deployed as the central event/alarm subsystem across Nimbra media transport node deployments in broadcast and telecom networks. Engineers can download the NETI-EVT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETI-EVT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Net Insight Nimbra media transport node

Monitoring Examples

An NMS would poll nevtSequenceCounter and nevtLastChangedTime to detect whether new entries have been added to nevtEventTable since the last poll, then walk nevtEventEntry rows to read nevtEventSeverity, nevtEventCause, and nevtEventText for each new event. A notification receiver that missed a trap can use nevtEventIndex to fetch the specific missed event object from the table rather than losing the alarm entirely. A string of events with nevtEventAlarmType indicating an alarm-set condition combined with high nevtEventSeverity would flag an active hardware or link problem needing attention.

What Can Be Monitored

  • event log history
  • active alarm list
  • event severity and cause
  • alarm set/clear notifications
  • sequence counter for missed-event recovery
