Category: Network Management

Description: Provides MWorks enterprise root MIB structure and registration objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MWORKS-MIB?

MWORKS-MIB is a proprietary MIB that defines only the enterprise root MIB structure and registration objects for MWorks, establishing the top-level OID subtree under which any actual MWorks product MIBs would register their managed objects. As a root/registration module, it does not itself expose any runtime monitoring data — no interface, environmental, performance, or fault objects are defined in this module. Consequently, it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; its purpose is purely structural, providing the enterprise OID anchor point that other, unlisted MWorks MIB modules would build upon. It is a foundational dependency for any other MWorks-branded MIB modules, which would import and register beneath this root. It would appear in a MIB repository as a supporting/parent module rather than something an administrator polls directly, with actual monitoring depending on whichever product-specific MWorks MIB modules are deployed on top of it. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the MWORKS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MWORKS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-specific root MIB module, not a monitorable device type in itself

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only enterprise root/registration objects and has no runtime data objects of its own, so no monitoring scenario applies here — it is honestly a structural/conformance-style module rather than one with pollable status data. As a root MIB, it would not be polled directly by a management station; any actual monitoring is performed via other MWorks product MIBs registered beneath this root.
