Category: IP Routing

Description: Manages ZTE multi-service router platform configuration and system status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MR-MIB?

MR-MIB is a ZTE private MIB implemented on the ZXR10 multi-service router platform to describe the 'MR' (multicast routing) protocol instance configuration and status. It exposes per-VRF multicast routing instance parameters such as mroute limits, downstream limits, multipath hashing mode, search mode, route damping, and static route settings. As a configuration-heavy module its monitoring value is mainly in confirming the software-level multicast routing policy is correctly applied per VRF instance, rather than exposing hardware sensors, though instance-level limits and damping settings help operators detect misconfigured or overloaded multicast routing contexts. It appears self-contained around the ZXR10 platform's own instance model (zxr10mrInstanceMIB) with related static-route sub-modules (zxr10mstaticInstMIB, zxr10mstaticLimitMIB), rather than depending on external IETF multicast MIBs like PIM-MIB. It is deployed on ZTE ZXR10 multi-service routers in service-provider or enterprise core networks running multicast VPN services. Engineers can download the MR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXR10 multi-service router

Monitoring Examples

An administrator can walk zxr10mrInstanceTable/zxr10mrInstanceEntry keyed by zxr10mrInstanceVrfName to check zxr10mrInstanceMrouteLimit and zxr10mrInstanceDownstreamLimit, which if reached would indicate a VRF's multicast route table has hit capacity. Checking zxr10mrInstanceDampingEnable and zxr10mrInstanceMultipathSghash helps confirm whether route flap damping and ECMP hashing are configured as intended for a given multicast VRF instance.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-VRF multicast route limit
  • downstream multicast limit
  • multipath hash mode
  • route damping status
  • multicast search mode
