What Is MPLS-TC-MIB?
MPLS-TC-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF standards MIB that defines shared Textual Conventions (TCs) and OBJECT-IDENTITIES used across the family of MPLS management MIBs (e.g. MPLS-LSR-MIB, MPLS-TE-MIB, MPLS-VPN-MIB). It contains no runtime data of its own; instead the MPLS-TC-MIB MIB standardizes common data types—such as label representations, tunnel indices, and MPLS-specific enumerations—so that other MPLS MIBs interpret values consistently. Its role in monitoring is therefore purely foundational: it doesn't expose interface, performance, or fault data directly, but every MPLS-related fault, LSP status, or traffic-engineering counter reported by dependent MIBs relies on the type definitions established here. By design, essentially all IETF MPLS MIB modules (LSR, TE, VPN, FTN, etc.) import from this module, making it a core structural dependency across the MPLS MIB family. It is deployed wherever MPLS-capable routers from any vendor support standards-based SNMP MPLS management.

Monitoring Examples
The only object surfaced, mplsMIB, is the root OBJECT IDENTITY under which this module's textual conventions are registered, confirming it defines types and identifiers rather than pollable counters. There is no runtime monitoring scenario for this module in isolation; it would not be polled directly by a monitoring system. Its textual conventions instead underlie objects like LSP indices and label values reported by dependent MPLS MIBs such as MPLS-LSR-MIB.
