Category: Cisco ME1200 / UPnP

Description: Manages UPnP device discovery settings on Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ME1200-UPNP-MIB?

ME1200-UPNP-MIB is a Cisco vendor-specific MIB for the ME1200 Metro Ethernet Access Device, controlling that platform's private/simplified UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) discovery feature. It exposes a small set of global configuration objects controlling whether UPnP advertising is enabled, the TTL used for UPnP multicast advertisements, and how long advertisements remain valid. Its monitoring relevance is limited to confirming this software feature's configuration state -- verifying UPnP discovery mode, TTL, and advertising duration are set as intended -- rather than exposing any hardware sensors or traffic counters. It is a small, self-contained feature MIB with its own conformance branch, not dependent on broader UPnP standards beyond borrowing the concept. It is deployed on Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switches used by carriers for Ethernet access/aggregation. Engineers can download the ME1200-UPNP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ME1200-UPNP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet Access Device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check me1200UpnpConfigGlobalsMode to confirm UPnP discovery is enabled or disabled as intended, and review me1200UpnpConfigGlobalsTtl and me1200UpnpConfigGlobalsAdvertisingDuration to verify the multicast TTL and advertisement lifetime match network design. An unexpectedly enabled UPnP mode on a carrier-facing device would be a configuration/security concern worth flagging.

What Can Be Monitored

  • UPnP discovery enable/disable state
  • UPnP advertisement TTL
  • UPnP advertisement duration
