Category: SNMP Framework
Description: Defines the SMI OID structure and enterprise root for Cisco ME1200 MIB modules.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ME1200-SMI?
ME1200-SMI is a Structure-of-Management-Information module for Cisco's ME1200 Carrier Ethernet Access Device product line; it defines only the enterprise OID tree root under which all ME1200-specific MIB modules register their object identifiers. It exposes no operational data itself - no interface counters, environmental readings, or configuration objects - it is purely a naming/registration hierarchy. Because of that, it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status such as temperature, CPU load, or power supply health; the actual telemetry for those aspects lives in the other ME1200-* MIB modules that branch from this root. Every other ME1200 MIB module implicitly depends on this root OID definition, though the module itself only depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise numbering convention. It is present on every Cisco ME1200 Carrier Ethernet access switch as the base of its private MIB tree, consulted during SNMP integration/onboarding rather than polled directly by an NMS, making the ME1200-SMI MIB the starting reference point for that onboarding step.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ME1200-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco ME1200 Carrier Ethernet access switches
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only an OID registration point and contains no runtime data objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; the actual monitorable data (ports, environment, etc.) lives in other ME1200-* MIB modules that branch from this root.
