Description: The number of input datagrams for which this entity was not their final IP destination and for which this entity attempted to find a route to forward them to that final destination.

When tracking interface statistics, the counter of the incoming interface is incremented for each datagram.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the system, and at other times as indicated by the value of DiscontinuityTime.

What is me1200IpStatisticsInterfaceIpv4InForwDatagrams?

This counter counts inbound datagrams that weren't addressed to this device, for which it looked up a route in order to forward them onward, tallied for one specific IP interface, selected by the row's interface index for IPv4 traffic. Network management tools poll it periodically and graph the delta between polls to watch traffic volume and trends over time.
