Module: ME1200-IP-MIB

OID (symbolic): ME1200-IP-MIB::me1200IpStatisticsGlobalsIpv4HCInReceives

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.815.1.102.1.4.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: The total number of input IP datagrams received, including those received in error. This object counts the same datagrams as InReceives, but allows for larger values.

Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the system, and at other times as indicated by the value of DiscontinuityTime.

What is me1200IpStatisticsGlobalsIpv4HCInReceives?

This counter is the 64-bit twin of InReceives, kept so the count doesn't wrap around on a high-throughput link where the 32-bit version would roll over too quickly, tallied system-wide across every IP interface on the switch for IPv4 traffic. Network management tools poll it periodically and graph the delta between polls to watch traffic volume and trends over time.

Start monitoring Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet access switch (IP routing capability/config) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the ME1200-IP-MIB::me1200IpStatisticsGlobalsIpv4HCInReceives OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet access switch (IP routing capability/config) from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet access switch (IP routing capability/config) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type me1200IpStatisticsGlobalsIpv4HCInReceives into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. The total number of input IP datagrams received, including those received in error. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
