Description: Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 9500 color laser printer SNMP MIB providing large-format color toner and print engine management objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LJ9500-MIB?

LJ9500-MIB is HP's device-specific SNMP module for the LaserJet 9500 large-format color laser printer, following the same control-panel/self-test/localization object pattern as other HP LaserJet MIBs, built on the standard Printer-MIB plus HP's private PML "device" tree. It exposes control-panel button-press and display-content/CRC objects, background status-message lines, localization language/country support lists, energy-star power state, and self-test/print-internal-page diagnostic controls, all scoped to a larger color print engine. As with its siblings, this is primarily a hardware/software status monitoring MIB: the status-message and display-CRC objects reveal real-time printer state (ready, jammed, low on one of several color toners, etc.), self-test provides remote diagnostic verification, and perm-store-init-occurred flags an NVRAM reset. It extends HP's proprietary PML device object model and complements the standard Printer-MIB's marker-supplies group, which would separately track each color toner cartridge. It's deployed in office/production environments using the high-volume color LaserJet 9500 where print-fleet tools track engine status and diagnostics, and administrators can complete an LJ9500-MIB download to load it directly into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LJ9500-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP LaserJet 9500 color laser printer

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll background-status-msg-line1-part1/line2-part1 for the printer's current status text and control-panel-display-contents-crc to detect a front-panel change signaling a new alert (e.g. one of the four color cartridges low). The self-test and print-internal-page objects allow remotely triggering diagnostics or a configuration-page printout to verify engine health. energy-star indicates whether the large-format engine is in a power-saving state, which can explain a longer first-page-out time after idle.

What Can Be Monitored

  • control-panel status/display message
  • self-test result
  • energy-star/power-save state
  • NVRAM/perm-store initialization event
  • supported languages/countries
