Description: Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 2400 series printer SNMP MIB providing print status, toner, and job queue monitoring objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LJ2400-MIB?

LJ2400-MIB is Hewlett-Packard's device-specific SNMP module for the LaserJet 2400 series monochrome laser printer, extending HP's private "netPMLmgmt"/PML management framework alongside the standard Printer-MIB. It exposes control-panel objects (button presses, display contents and CRC, status message lines), localization settings (supported languages/countries), power-management state (energy-star mode), and self-test/diagnostic controls. This module is centered on monitoring and controlling device hardware/software status -- the control-panel display and status-message objects reveal current printer state (e.g., paper jam, low toner) in near real time, self-test objects let an admin trigger and verify diagnostics, and perm-store-init-occurred flags whether the printer's NVRAM was reinitialized (a sign of a factory reset or firmware issue). It depends on and extends HP's PML-based device tree ("device", "device-system") and complements the standard Printer-MIB rather than replacing it. It's deployed wherever HP LaserJet 2400-series printers are managed via SNMP in office/print-fleet monitoring tools. Engineers can download the LJ2400-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LJ2400-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP LaserJet 2400 series printer

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll background-status-msg-line1-part1/background-status-msg-line2-part1 to read the printer's current status message (e.g., "Ready" vs. an error condition) and watch control-panel-display-contents-crc to detect any change in what's shown on the front panel. The self-test and print-internal-page objects can be triggered remotely to run diagnostics or print a configuration page for troubleshooting. A change in perm-store-init-occurred would flag that the printer's persistent settings storage was reinitialized, useful when diagnosing unexpected configuration loss.

What Can Be Monitored

  • control-panel status/display message
  • self-test result
  • energy-star/power-save mode
  • NVRAM/perm-store initialization event
  • supported languages/countries
