deviceAlertIndex

Module: LEXMARK-MPS-MIB

OID (symbolic): LEXMARK-MPS-MIB::deviceAlertIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.641.6.5.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: The index of this alert in the alert table. This table is expected to be rather dynamic, with rows added as alert conditions occur on devices, and then the rows being removed as alert conditions are cleared. The data in this table should not persist over a POR, but should be reset when the printer is reset, with appropriated items being added back in as the printer finds them.

While this OID is marked as read-only, it should not be returned as table-column, which means it should be treated as not-accessible. It is marked as read-only in the MIB only because many MIB compilers will complain about this being called not-accessible since the trap can return this index.

What is deviceAlertIndex?

Numbers this row within the dynamic alert table, which grows and shrinks as alert conditions appear and clear and does not persist across a power-on reset. The MIB itself notes this is really meant to be treated as not-accessible (it's only marked read-only so strict MIB compilers don't complain about a trap varbind returning a non-accessible index), so an admin wouldn't poll it directly but would see it show up in trap notifications.
