Category: Network Management

Description: Manages Lantronix device server network configuration and serial port settings.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LANTRONIX-MIB?

LANTRONIX-MIB is the enterprise SNMP structure-of-management-information module for Lantronix, defining the OID namespace for its family of serial-to-Ethernet device servers (SLC, SLK, SLP, SLM, SLS product lines). Rather than exposing runtime objects itself, it establishes the product registration tree under which each device server's specific configuration and status objects are defined, covering network configuration and serial port settings. In practice the per-product branches under this tree carry hardware/software status data such as device uptime, serial port line status, and configuration state used to confirm a unit is online and correctly provisioned. As an enterprise root MIB it depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise numbering and is a parent to Lantronix's product-specific MIB modules. It is typically deployed wherever Lantronix serial device servers or console servers bridge legacy serial equipment onto IP networks for remote management. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the LANTRONIX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LANTRONIX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Lantronix serial-to-Ethernet device server
  • Lantronix SLC/SLK/SLP/SLM/SLS product family

Monitoring Examples

The "products" node subdivides into branches like slc, slk, slp, slm, and sls, each corresponding to a specific Lantronix device server product line; an NMS would walk the relevant product branch to reach that model's serial port and network configuration objects. Since this root module itself defines mostly the OID hierarchy rather than leaf instrumentation, most concrete monitoring (e.g., serial line state) occurs via the per-product MIB modules registered underneath it. An admin primarily uses this module to identify which Lantronix product family a discovered device belongs to via its sysObjectID.

What Can Be Monitored

  • product/model identification via OID branch
  • serial port configuration (per product-specific sub-MIB)
  • network configuration (per product-specific sub-MIB)
