laTpAutoPolarity

Module: LANART-MIB

OID (symbolic): LANART-MIB::laTpAutoPolarity

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.712.1.2.2.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Setting this object to disabled(2) disables the auto polarity test for this port. Setting this object to enabled(1) enables the feature.

A return value of corrected(3) indicates that the polarity test has sensed a reversal on the receive wiring pair, and has corrected this fault by inverting its receive signal. A return value of not-applicable(4) indicates that the specified port does not support polarity correction.

What is laTpAutoPolarity?

This read-write object reports and controls the auto-polarity setting for one twisted-pair port on the LANart hub, indicating whether the polarity-correction feature is enabled, disabled, has just corrected a reversal, or is not supported on that port. An admin sets it to enabled(1) or disabled(2) to control whether the hub automatically detects and fixes reversed receive-pair wiring, while a read of corrected(3) confirms that the port itself found and fixed a wiring fault without needing the cable replaced. For example, if a technician miswires a patch cable with the receive pair reversed, laTpAutoPolarity for that port row would read corrected(3) instead of the port simply failing to link.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> LANART-MIB::laTpAutoPolarity

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.712.1.2.2.1.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> LANART-MIB::laTpAutoPolarity.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.712.1.2.2.1.1.4.1 i <value>
