Description: L3VPN-TC-MIB-DRAFT-01 module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is L3VPN-TC-MIB-DRAFT-01?

L3VPN-TC-MIB-DRAFT-01 is a draft IETF MIB that defines Textual Conventions (TCs) — shared data-type definitions — used by other Layer 3 VPN management MIBs (such as PPVPN/L3VPN-related modules) rather than a MIB with its own manageable objects. It does not itself expose any object or table instances for device state, hardware, or performance data; its role is purely to standardize common types (e.g., VPN identifiers, route-target formats) referenced by other modules. Because it contains no runtime objects, it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; any monitoring occurs through the MIBs that import these TCs. There is an inherent dependency relationship in the opposite direction from usual: other L3VPN MIBs depend on this module for their type definitions, rather than this module depending on them. It would be deployed conceptually wherever L3VPN provisioning MIBs are implemented, on provider-edge (PE) routers offering MPLS L3VPN services. Engineers can download the L3VPN-TC-MIB-DRAFT-01 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in L3VPN-TC-MIB-DRAFT-01. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer — used with provider-edge (PE) routers offering MPLS L3VPN services

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only Textual Conventions (shared type definitions) for other L3VPN MIBs and has no object or table instances of its own to poll, so there is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe for it directly.
