Module: Juniper-DNS-MIB
OID (symbolic): Juniper-DNS-MIB::juniDnsServerListNextIndex
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.47.1.2.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: JuniNextServerListIndex
Access: read-only
Description: Coordinate juniDnsServerListIndex value allocation for entries in juniDnsServerListTable.
A GET of this object returns the next available index value to be used to create an entry in the associated table; or zero, if no valid index value is available. This object also returns a value of zero when it is the lexicographic successor of a varbind presented in an SNMP GETNEXT or GETBULK request, for which circumstance it is assumed that index allocation is unintended.
Successive GETs will typically return different values, thus avoiding collisions among cooperating management clients seeking to create table entries simultaneously.
What is juniDnsServerListNextIndex?
This read-only value returns the next available index to use when creating a new entry in the DNS server list table, or zero if no valid index is available, and also returns zero when queried as the lexicographic successor during a GETNEXT/GETBULK walk to avoid unintended index allocation; successive GETs typically return different values to avoid collisions between concurrent management clients. An admin's management application reads this immediately before creating a new DNS server table entry, to obtain a safe, unused index for the new row. For example, a management script would GET this object to obtain index 5, then create a new DNS server list entry using that index, avoiding a collision with another script doing the same thing concurrently.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.47.1.2.1 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Juniper-DNS-MIB::juniDnsServerListNextIndex
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.47.1.2.1.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Juniper-DNS-MIB::juniDnsServerListNextIndex.1
