Description: Provides managed objects for Class-Based Forwarding (CBF) policy configuration and statistics on Juniper Networks E-series broadband routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-CBF-MIB?

Juniper-CBF-MIB is a Juniper Networks enterprise MIB for the E-series platform implementing Class-Based Forwarding (also referred to as Connection-Based Forwarding), a mechanism for policy-based traffic forwarding decisions across interfaces. It exposes configuration objects for CBF-enabled interfaces and their forwarding connections, including per-interface and per-connection row status and index/interface mappings. Monitoring with this MIB is software/service-level: an administrator checks juniCbfIfRowStatus and juniCbfIfConnRowStatus to confirm that CBF interfaces and their ingress/egress connections are correctly provisioned and active, revealing misconfigured or down forwarding paths. It builds on standard interface indexing (ifIndex) from IF-MIB to associate CBF entries with underlying physical/logical interfaces. It is deployed on Juniper E-series broadband routers applying class-based forwarding policies to subscriber or service traffic. Engineers can download the Juniper-CBF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-CBF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series broadband access routers

Monitoring Examples

An operator would walk juniCbfIfTable/juniCbfIfEntry to check juniCbfIfRowStatus and juniCbfIfLowerIfIndex for each configured CBF interface, confirming the interface is active and correctly bound to its underlying interface. juniCbfIfConnTable/juniCbfIfConnEntry lets the admin verify juniCbfIfConnRowStatus alongside juniCbfIfIngressIfIndex and juniCbfIfEgressIfIndex for each forwarding connection; a connection stuck in a non-active row status would indicate a failed or incomplete CBF policy binding. juniCbfNextIfIndex tracks the next available index for new CBF interface entries.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CBF interface row status
  • CBF interface-to-lower-interface binding
  • CBF connection row status
  • ingress/egress interface mapping for CBF connections
