Description: Juniper Networks MIB for monitoring active subscriber session counts, states, and per-subscriber statistics on Juniper E-series routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is JUNIPER-SUBSCRIBER-MIB?

JUNIPER-SUBSCRIBER-MIB is a Juniper Networks enterprise MIB for monitoring broadband subscriber sessions on Juniper E-series edge routers, tracking how many subscribers are connected and their per-subscriber accounting/interface details. It exposes aggregate subscriber counts (total and active), per-subscriber session tables, per-port subscriber counts, a hardware-index mapping table linking subscribers to physical interface hardware, and an accounting table for usage statistics. Its monitoring purpose is primarily software/session-state health: confirming the active subscriber count matches expectations, catching a sudden mass drop in sessions (which would indicate a card or line failure), and correlating subscribers to the physical interface hardware they're terminated on. It is Juniper-specific but conceptually parallels standard interface (IF-MIB) indexing for tying logical subscribers to physical hardware. It is deployed on Juniper E-series broadband edge routers used by ISPs for subscriber management (e.g. PPPoE/DHCP subscriber termination). Engineers can download the JUNIPER-SUBSCRIBER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in JUNIPER-SUBSCRIBER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks E-series broadband edge routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls jnxSubscriberTotalCount and jnxSubscriberActiveCount to track overall subscriber session health, alerting if jnxSubscriberActiveCount drops sharply, which would indicate a line card failure or upstream authentication outage. jnxSubscriberTable (jnxSubscriberEntry) is walked per subscriber, cross-referenced with jnxSubscriberInterfaceHardwareIndexTable (using jnxSubscriberInterfaceHardwareIndexHandleHiWord/LoWord) to identify exactly which physical port hardware a subscriber is terminated on. jnxSubscriberAccountingTable and jnxSubscriberPortCountTable are used to verify per-port subscriber density stays within provisioned limits.

What Can Be Monitored

  • total and active subscriber counts
  • per-subscriber session details
  • per-port subscriber counts
  • subscriber-to-hardware interface mapping
  • subscriber accounting/usage statistics
