What Is ITOUCH-TRAP-MIB?

ITOUCH-TRAP-MIB is a private MIB from Allied Telesis defining the SNMP trap/notification objects and alert conditions used by its iTouch line of network devices. Rather than defining polled data tables, it is primarily a notifications module: it declares the trap OIDs and associated varbinds the device emits for events such as faults, configuration changes, or threshold crossings. Its practical monitoring role is therefore in fault/event monitoring rather than continuous polling - network management stations register to receive these traps to be alerted in near real time to hardware or software conditions the base device MIBs would otherwise require polling to detect. It depends on the underlying Allied Telesis device MIBs that supply the actual status objects referenced in trap varbinds. This module is used in Allied Telesis iTouch deployments where trap-based alerting is preferred to reduce polling overhead, and administrators can download the ITOUCH-TRAP-MIB file to load its trap definitions into their SNMP manager.
