Description: Lucent/Avaya IP access control list MIB providing SNMP objects for managing IP filter and access list rules on routing platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IP-ACCESS-LIST-MIB?

IP-ACCESS-LIST-MIB is a Lucent/Avaya MIB for the Cajun Router platform, providing SNMP objects for configuring and monitoring IP access control lists (ACLs) used to filter network traffic. It defines a control table for named ACLs and a rule table of individual filter entries matching on criteria such as source address and wildcard mask. It is used mainly for security configuration monitoring: the row status of an ACL or rule reveals whether a filtering policy is active, still being provisioned, or left in an inconsistent state, which matters for confirming security policy is correctly enforced on the router. It uses standard SNMPv2 RowStatus/table-row conventions common to configuration MIBs and works alongside IF-MIB for applying ACLs to specific interfaces. It is deployed on Lucent/Avaya Cajun-series routing/switching platforms to enforce IP packet filtering policies, and administrators can download the IP-ACCESS-LIST-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for these platforms.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IP-ACCESS-LIST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Lucent/Avaya Cajun routers
  • Avaya routing/switching platforms

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll ipACListCtlTable/ipACListCtlStatus for a named ACL (ipACListCtlName) to confirm it is active rather than left notInService. Examining ipACRuleTable entries ordered by ipACRuleSubIndex under that ACL reveals the source address (ipACRuleSrcAddr) and wildcard mask (ipACRuleSrcAddrWild) each rule matches. When troubleshooting unexpected traffic drops, checking ipACRuleOwner and rule ordering would help identify a misconfigured or overly broad filter rule.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ACL name, type, and status
  • individual filter rule status
  • rule ownership
  • source address match criteria
  • source address wildcard mask
