What Is IB-PLATFORMONE-MIB?

IB-PLATFORMONE-MIB is Infoblox's proprietary platform-health MIB for its DDI/Grid appliances, part of the same "One" MIB family as its DHCPv6 counterpart. It exposes hardware identity and health objects, including CPU temperature and hardware type/ID, alongside cluster-replication status covering each grid node's replication state, IP address, and queue/timestamp of last replication to and from the master. This is explicitly a hardware-and-software status MIB: it lets an admin monitor CPU temperature for overheating, node replication status and queue depth to confirm grid nodes are staying in sync, and system/CPU monitor objects for overall load. It has no formal dependency on standard IETF hardware MIBs, being a fully proprietary Infoblox implementation, though it functions alongside other Infoblox "One" service MIBs for complete appliance visibility. It is deployed across Infoblox Grid clusters where multiple appliances replicate configuration/data and must be monitored for hardware health and replication lag. IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IB-PLATFORMONE-MIB. Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll ibClusterReplicationStatusTable/ibClusterReplicationStatusEntry to check each node's ibNodeReplicationStatus and ibNodeQueueToMaster/ibNodeQueueFromMaster; a growing queue depth or stale ibNodeLastRepTimeFromMaster indicates replication lag, while ibCPUTemperature climbing toward a threshold flags a cooling problem on that node.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using ibNetworkMonitorDNSSecurityInvalidPortCount OID:

Select an Infoblox Grid DDI appliance as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type ibNetworkMonitorDNSSecurityInvalidPortCount into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the number of DNS responses to invalid ports. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
