Category: IP and Core Protocols, Vendor: Huawei

Description: Huawei LAN switch ARP MIB providing ARP table management, static ARP entry configuration, and anti-ARP-spoofing settings on Huawei switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-LswARP-MIB?

HUAWEI-LswARP-MIB is a Huawei LAN switch MIB for managing the ARP subsystem on Huawei Quidway-family switches, covering the switch's dynamic ARP table, static ARP entry configuration, and anti-ARP-spoofing protection settings. It exposes data about learned IP-to-MAC mappings, manually configured static bindings, and security settings designed to detect or block spoofed ARP traffic. For monitoring, it is used to check the health of Layer 2/3 address resolution, for example detecting an abnormal spike in ARP table churn or triggered anti-spoofing events, both software-level indicators of network attack or misconfiguration rather than hardware faults. It is a Huawei-specific implementation that parallels but does not replace the standard IETF IP-MIB ARP table (ipNetToMediaTable). It is deployed on Huawei LAN switches in enterprise and campus network environments where ARP-based attacks are a security concern. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-LswARP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-LswARP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei LAN switches

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided, but a realistic use would be polling the switch's ARP table to detect an unusually high entry-add rate or duplicate IP conflicts, and checking anti-spoofing counters/logs for triggered events, which would reveal an ARP spoofing attack in progress on the LAN segment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ARP table entries
  • static ARP bindings
  • anti-ARP-spoofing events
