Description: Huawei Link Aggregation Group MIB for managing Ethernet trunk groups, member port assignments, load balancing, and aggregate interface statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-LAG-MIB?

HUAWEI-LAG-MIB is a Huawei-specific SNMP module, described internally as an "LACP extend MIB," for managing Ethernet Link Aggregation Groups (trunk groups) on Huawei switches and routers. It exposes objects covering trunk group membership, individual member port assignment, load-balancing algorithm configuration, and aggregate-interface traffic statistics. From a monitoring standpoint it lets an operator confirm the software/protocol state of LACP-negotiated trunks and the hardware-level up/down status of each member port, which is critical for detecting a failed or flapping physical link that has silently reduced trunk capacity. It extends the standard IEEE 802.3ad/802.1AX LACP model with Huawei-specific enhancements rather than replacing it. It is typically deployed on Huawei campus and data-center switches where multiple physical ports are bonded into a single logical high-bandwidth, redundant link, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-LAG-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-LAG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei switches
  • Huawei routers

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were listed in the source, but a realistic scenario would involve polling the trunk group table to enumerate active member ports and comparing the configured count against the operationally up count. A mismatch would reveal a member port that has gone down or been administratively removed, silently degrading the aggregate bandwidth without taking the whole trunk offline.

What Can Be Monitored

  • trunk group membership
  • member port status
  • load balancing mode
  • aggregate interface traffic statistics
