Description: Huawei IPSec MIB for managing IPSec tunnel policies, security associations, IKE configuration, and VPN tunnel statistics on Huawei security devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-IPSEC-MIB?

HUAWEI-IPSEC-MIB is a Huawei proprietary SNMP module for managing IPSec VPN functionality on Huawei routers and security gateways. It exposes configuration and state data for IPSec tunnel policies, security associations (SAs), Internet Key Exchange (IKE) parameters, and per-tunnel traffic statistics. Administrators use it to monitor the operational status and health of VPN tunnels, including SA establishment/negotiation failures, tunnel up/down state, and encrypted/decrypted packet counters, which serve as indicators of software (IKE daemon) health rather than physical hardware. It builds on general IPSec/IKE concepts standardized in IETF RFCs but is implemented as a Huawei-specific extension rather than a direct mapping of a standard MIB. It is typically deployed on Huawei enterprise or carrier-class routers and firewalls that terminate site-to-site or remote-access IPSec VPNs. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HUAWEI-IPSEC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-IPSEC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei routers
  • Huawei security gateways/firewalls

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module in the source, so specific object names cannot be grounded; however, a typical use would be polling per-tunnel SA and policy tables to confirm negotiated encryption/authentication algorithms and to detect tunnels stuck in a non-established state. An admin would watch for repeated IKE renegotiation attempts or SA count drops as an early sign of misconfigured pre-shared keys or peer unreachability.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IPSec tunnel status
  • security association (SA) state
  • IKE negotiation parameters
  • VPN traffic/packet counters
