Description: Huawei frame time slot MIB providing management objects for TDM time-slot configuration and cross-connection on channelized interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-FRAMETS-MIB?

HUAWEI-FRAMETS-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary MIB, described in its own module description as a demonstration of how to retrieve time-slot (TS) usability information from a TDM frame, for channelized TDM interfaces on Huawei transport/access equipment. It exposes objects reporting which time slots within a frame are usable, in use, or available for cross-connection on channelized (e.g. E1/T1) interfaces. Its monitoring value is around the hardware/configuration status of TDM time-slot allocation, letting an operator see time-slot usage and availability on a channelized port, which is useful for capacity planning and diagnosing time-slot allocation conflicts on TDM circuits. It builds on the standard channelized-interface framework (e.g. DS1/E1 MIBs) that Huawei TDM equipment typically also implements. It is deployed on Huawei multiservice access/transport platforms carrying channelized TDM traffic. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-FRAMETS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-FRAMETS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei TDM/channelized access or transport equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll a time-slot usability table (patterned as a frameTsTable, though not confirmed from source) per channelized interface to see which of the 32 (E1) or 24 (T1) time slots are usable versus already allocated, catching a time-slot allocation conflict or a frame-level fault that leaves fewer slots usable than expected. No sample_objects were provided for this module, so specific object names are inferred rather than confirmed from source.

What Can Be Monitored

  • time-slot usability per frame
  • time-slot allocation/cross-connect status

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hwUsableTs OID:

Select a Huawei TDM/channelized access or transport equipment (time-slot allocation) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hwUsableTs into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the all user usable TS number of all V5 links. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the count changes from its expected baseline, since that would indicate the underlying set of items changed unexpectedly. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
