All MIBs › HPNSATRAPCFG-MIB
Category: Alarm and Event Management, Domain: Server Hardware, Vendor: HP/HPE
Description: Manages HP NetServer Agent trap configuration including destination community strings and severity thresholds.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HPNSATRAPCFG-MIB?
HPNSATRAPCFG-MIB is a proprietary HP NetServer Agent module that, unlike its sibling HPNSA MIBs, is primarily a configuration module rather than a data-collection module: it manages SNMP trap destination addresses, community strings, and severity thresholds for the NetServer Agent's alerting subsystem. It exposes configuration objects controlling where and at what severity hardware/software fault notifications from the other HPNSA MIBs (DIMM, ECC, storage) are sent. Its indirect monitoring value is ensuring that hardware faults, environmental problems, and other events detected elsewhere in the agent are actually delivered to a management station, making it a control-plane companion rather than a source of hardware telemetry itself. It depends functionally on the other HPNSA MIBs, since it configures how their trap notifications are routed. It is deployed on legacy HP NetServer or early ProLiant servers to set up SNMP trap forwarding to a network management station, typically starting with an HPNSATRAPCFG-MIB download to load its configuration objects into that station.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPNSATRAPCFG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP NetServer
- HP ProLiant server
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would configure a trap destination table (modeled as trapDestTable/trapDestEntry) with a management station's IP address, SNMP community string, and a minimum severity threshold, then verify traps from HPNSADIMM-MIB or HPNSAECC-MIB are correctly forwarded when a fault occurs. Because this module is primarily configuration rather than runtime telemetry, there is limited ongoing 'monitoring' value beyond confirming trap delivery settings are correct. No sample objects were provided for this module.
What Can Be Monitored
- trap destination address
- trap community string
- trap severity threshold
- trap delivery configuration
