Category: Alarm and Event Management, Domain: Server Hardware, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Manages HP NetServer Agent system event log (SEL) entries for hardware fault recording on HP ProLiant servers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPNSASEL-MIB?

HPNSASEL-MIB is a legacy HP (Compaq/NetServer, enterprise OID 11) proprietary MIB reporting the IPMI-style SEL (System Event Log) on legacy HP servers. Its objects cover agent/MIB version and revision, entry count, and a log table (index, record ID/type, timestamp, generator ID/LUN, event-message-format version, sensor type/number, event trigger, up to three event-data bytes, line number, string info, severity), alongside filter objects for sensor type and event trigger. As a hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator review the low-level hardware event log — sensor-level detail beyond typical SNMP traps — when diagnosing an intermittent hardware fault. It is deployed on legacy HP (Compaq NetServer) servers. Engineers can download the HPNSASEL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPNSASEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Legacy HP (Compaq NetServer) servers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator reviews hpSELAgtSensorType and hpSELAgtEventTrigger entries in the SEL to pinpoint which specific hardware sensor triggered an intermittent fault on a legacy HP NetServer.

What Can Be Monitored
