Description: hpicfRpvstPathCostMode controls which pathcost mode to use.
A device can function in one of the 2 modes defined below.
pathCost8021d - The device calculates the default path cost for
ports based on IEEE 802.1d.

pathCost8021t - The device calculates the default path cost for
ports based on IEEE 802.1t.

proprietary -The device calculates the default path cost for
ports based on the proprietary standard.

What is hpicfRpvstPathCostMode?

Selects which standard the switch uses to auto-calculate default STP path cost from link speed: pathCost8021d(1) (legacy 16-bit values, e.g. 19 for 100 Mbps), pathCost8021t(2) (32-bit values, e.g. 200,000 for 100 Mbps), or proprietary(3) (vendor scale, e.g. 200 for 100 Mbps). An admin changes this when interoperating with other vendors' switches that expect a particular path-cost scale for correct root/blocking-port selection.
