hmDuplexMismatchTrap
Module: HMPRIV-MGMT-SNMP-MIB
OID (symbolic): HMPRIV-MGMT-SNMP-MIB::hmDuplexMismatchTrap
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.248.14.2.0.11
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
This trap indicates a possible serious situation. Check for duplex mismatch, or EMI, or too many cascaded hubs, or exceeded maximum distance at HDX port.
What is hmDuplexMismatchTrap?
This SNMP notification fires when the network device detects symptoms of a duplex mismatch—where one end of the link is set to half-duplex and the other to full-duplex. The trap warns of a serious condition that causes frame collisions, latency, and packet loss. Network technicians use this alert to quickly identify and correct speed and duplex configuration mismatches on network interfaces.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' HMPRIV-MGMT-SNMP-MIB::hmDuplexMismatchTrap snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.248.14.2.0.11
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
