Description:
This object, when read, always returns a value of other(1). A value of reset(2) has the same effect as a power-on sequence (coldstart). Writing a value of hotRestart(10) leads to a warmstart. When set to resetStats(3), a reset of all statistic counters within the whole switch will be forced. A value of resetFDB(4) will clear the forwarding database. If set to resetARP(5), the ARP table will be flushed. The value gbl-reset(12) will result in a reset of the whole chassis. Any other value results in a badValue status code.
What is hmAction?
This OID accepts write-only commands to perform device actions: reset (coldstart), restart (warmstart), clear statistics, flush forwarding database, or clear ARP table. Reading it returns 'other'. An operator writes commands here to recover from errors or reset monitoring state without physical access.
