Description: HH3C MIB for Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) managing user roles and permission assignments on H3C devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-RBAC-MIB?

HH3C-RBAC-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB implementing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) management, defining device roles, per-role resource access permissions, and associated rules for H3C network equipment. It exposes configuration data including a table of defined roles with names, descriptions, and resource-access strings, plus rule tables specifying rule types, together with default-role settings and storage/row-status housekeeping fields. This MIB is used to monitor the software/administrative-configuration status of a device's access-control policy, letting an operator audit which roles exist, what permissions each grants, and whether the default role setting matches security policy, which is important for detecting unauthorized privilege escalation risks. RBAC is a foundational security mechanism that typically interacts with the device's AAA/authentication subsystem, though it is defined independently here as its own MIB. Typical deployment is across H3C routers and switches in enterprise environments enforcing least-privilege administrative access. Engineers can download the HH3C-RBAC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-RBAC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C router
  • H3C switch

Monitoring Examples

A security administrator can poll hh3cRbacRoleTable/hh3cRbacRoleEntry for hh3cRbacRoleName and hh3cRbacRoleResourceAccess to audit exactly what each configured role is permitted to access, flagging any role with unexpectedly broad resource-access strings. hh3cRbacRoleDefaultEnable and hh3cRbacRoleDefaultRoleName reveal whether a default role is active and which one, which matters because an overly permissive default role is a common misconfiguration. hh3cRbacRuleTable/hh3cRbacRuleEntry with hh3cRbacRuleType lets the operator confirm rule-based restrictions are correctly scoped, and hh3cRbacNotifications can alert on role or rule changes.

What Can Be Monitored

  • defined RBAC roles and permissions
  • default role assignment
  • rule table type/scope
  • role row status/storage type
  • RBAC change notifications
