Category: Fibre Channel and Storage, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: H3C MIB for SAN aggregation management combining multiple Fibre Channel links for increased bandwidth in storage networks.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-SAN-AGG-MIB?

H3C-SAN-AGG-MIB manages Storage Area Network (SAN) port aggregation on H3C Fibre Channel switches, allowing multiple FC links to be bonded into a single logical aggregation group for increased bandwidth and redundancy between SAN switches or between a switch and storage array. It exposes a group table for creating/deleting aggregation groups and controlling group size, along with per-group member-port lists and their individual link states, plus current vs. previous negotiated speed. This is chiefly a hardware/link-status MIB for SAN fabrics: it lets storage administrators confirm all member FC ports in an aggregation are up and running at consistent speed, and detects when a member port has dropped out via h3cSanAggNotifications. It is specific to Fibre Channel SAN technology and works alongside standard FC-related management conventions rather than depending on a single IETF MIB. It's deployed on H3C Fibre Channel/SAN switches in storage networking environments requiring high-bandwidth, redundant links to storage arrays or SAN cores, making H3C-SAN-AGG-MIB SNMP monitoring a standard part of SAN fabric health checks.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-SAN-AGG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C Fibre Channel SAN switches

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll h3cSanAggGroupTable/h3cSanAggGroupEntry (indexed by h3cSanAggGroupIndex) to review h3cSanAggMemberList and the parallel h3cSanAggMemberStateList, checking whether every listed FC port shows an "up" state — if one member is down, the aggregation's effective bandwidth has silently dropped. Comparing h3cSanAggGroupPreviousSpeed to h3cSanAggGroupCurrentSpeed reveals whether the aggregate link speed changed, and h3cSanAggNotifications would trigger an SNMP trap so staff are alerted without needing to continuously poll h3cSanAggGroupRowStatus.

What Can Be Monitored

  • aggregation group member port list
  • per-member link state
  • aggregate group current/previous speed
  • aggregation group row status
  • max members per group
