Description: H3C MIB for EPON User-Network Interface (UNI) management configuring subscriber-facing ports on EPON ONUs.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-EPON-UNI-MIB?

H3C-EPON-UNI-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB for managing the User-Network Interface (UNI) ports on an Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) Optical Network Unit (ONU) — the subscriber-facing Ethernet ports through which end-user traffic enters the fiber access network. It belongs to the passive-optical-network/fiber-access technology area and exposes per-UNI-port configuration: administrative status, description, VLAN mode, access VLAN and trunk PVID, and the allowed VLAN range for trunk ports, plus port priority and MDI setting. It supports software/configuration status monitoring by letting an operator confirm each subscriber port is administratively up, correctly assigned to its VLAN, and configured with the intended trunk-allowed VLAN range, useful when diagnosing a subscriber connectivity or VLAN-tagging problem. It is one piece of H3C's broader EPON MIB suite, paired with an OLT-side counterpart, and depends on standard 802.1Q VLAN concepts. It is typically deployed on H3C ONUs at the customer premises within a carrier or enterprise fiber access deployment. Engineers can download the H3C-EPON-UNI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-EPON-UNI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C EPON Optical Network Unit (ONU)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls the h3cEponUniSysManTable/h3cEponUniSysManEntry rows, indexed by h3cEponUniIndex, to check h3cEponUniAdminStatus and h3cEponUniDescr for each subscriber port, confirming the port is administratively enabled and correctly labeled. Checking h3cEponUniVlanType, h3cEponUniAccessVlan, and h3cEponUniTrunkPvid reveals whether a port is configured as access or trunk and which VLAN it carries. The h3cEponUniVLANTrunkAllowListLow and h3cEponUniVLANTrunkAllowListHigh objects define the allowed VLAN range on a trunk UNI port, which an operator would check if tagged traffic is unexpectedly being dropped.

What Can Be Monitored

  • UNI port admin status
  • UNI port VLAN mode (access/trunk)
  • access VLAN / trunk PVID assignment
  • allowed VLAN range on trunk ports
  • UNI port priority and MDI setting

RFC description

H3C Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) User Network Interface (UNI) MIB. Provides SNMP management objects for configuring and monitoring user-facing interfaces on EPON optical network terminals (ONUs) based on IEEE 802.3ah EFM PON standards.

Start monitoring H3C EPON ONU (subscriber-facing UNI port config) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
