Category: Hardware and Environment, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: H3C MIB describing containment and connectivity relationships between physical and logical entities in the device.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-ENTRELATION-MIB?

This H3C proprietary MIB describes containment and connectivity relationships between physical and logical entities on H3C network devices, complementing the standard ENTITY-MIB. It exposes relationship data such as stack-port pairings and combo-port pairings that the standard Entity MIB's physical containment tree cannot represent on its own. This module is a topology/inventory-relationship MIB rather than a fault or performance MIB, but it supports hardware status monitoring by letting an operator confirm which physical port of a combo-port pair is currently active or how stack ports are cross-connected, useful when diagnosing an unexpected loss of link. It explicitly depends on and supplements the standard IETF ENTITY-MIB, reusing its entity indexing scheme. Typically deployed on H3C modular switches/routers that support port stacking or combo (copper/fiber) port pairs. Engineers can download the H3C-ENTRELATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-ENTRELATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C modular switches/routers with stacking or combo ports

Monitoring Examples

No sample_objects were extracted for this module, but based on its stated purpose, an administrator would query the entity-relationship table to determine which physical port of a combo-port pair is currently forwarding traffic versus disabled, or which stack-port pair connects two stack members — helping explain an unexpected loss of connectivity when the "wrong" half of a combo port turns out to be active.

What Can Be Monitored

  • stack port pairing relationships
  • combo port pair active/inactive state
  • physical-to-logical entity relationships
